Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) hosted over 220 middle school and high school students during the Pastor’s Kids (PK) and Missionary Kids (MK) Retreat from Saturday, September 2 through Monday, September 4.

“When this event occurs on the campus, it’s always one of the highlights of our year,” said Josh Dunn, Director of On-campus Admissions. “SAGU is such a great environment for our ministers’ children. It’s always great to get them on campus and show them what they have to look forward to in college.”

Students came from all over the Midwest and southern states including Louisiana, Arkansas, Kansas, Mississippi, and Texas.

Students began the retreat at the North Texas District Lakeview campground in Maypearl, Texas, where students were able to enjoy a variety of fun activities and amenities. On Sunday, students came back to Waxahachie to attend a special service in SAGU’s Hagee Center Auditorium. After the service, campers were given a tour of the SAGU campus and received lunch in the Sheaffer Center cafeteria. Following their campus activities, students visited Main Event in Fort Worth to enjoy an afternoon of bowling, laser tag, arcade games and food. All Sunday events were sponsored by SAGU.

Taylor, a 17-year-old participant from Searcy, Arkansas remarked, “This past PK retreat at (SAGU) was life changing! I met friends who I will always have in my life. Fellow PKs go through the same things I do. I not only got closer to my PK friends, but I also got closer to God as I encountered His presence during the services! Thank you to my Arkansas District DYD and to SAGU for an amazing weekend!"

This year marks the fifth time that SAGU has hosted the bi-annual PK and MK Retreat. During the course of 10 years in hosting the event, over 1000 PK/MK’s have been able to attend and visit SAGU’s campus.
